This Year's Model Updates:

For 2003, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has received refinements that improve its ride and handling. The suspension features reduced pressure shocks and the brake master cylinder output has been increased to improve brake pedal feel. There are also new brake calipers and a revised steering gear torsion bar. Available trims have been narrowed from five to three; the Sport and Special Edition trims have been discontinued. Standard on 2003 Laredo models is a new high-back cloth seat. Finally, in all Jeep Grand Cherokee interiors, a new cubby bin for holding sunglasses or cellular phones has been added to the instrument panel, replacing the ashtray.

Pros:
  • Powerful 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain capability, roomy comfort for four.
Cons:
  • Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability.

  • I love the old girl - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have had my 03 GC Laredo for about 3 and 1/2 years, and I love it every second. I blame the Jeep for 1 incident... The coolant sensor went, which left the coolant fan running after I shut the car off. I came out the next morning to a dead battery. I have also fixed the front 2 power windows, but I cant blame the Jeep. I locked my keys inside and tried a jimmy, but I think I messed something up. I also need to fix the power seat switch. It works in all directions, except backwards. Again, I think it has something to do with the snow I had to scoop out of the inside of the car when the window was broken in the down position during winter. I love my Jeep!

Bought my Jeep GC laredo 6 yrs ago and about 2 montha after purches the lifters were replaced and it went down hill from there. Hood wont stay up passenger window wont work. Cooling fan has been replaced 2 times. The relay for it atleast 6 times, the radiator once, had the last fan all rewired and after all that its out again and I dont know what to do. The headights and parking lights have started coming on and/or flashing with no keys in it. The heat only blows out of the defrost. Tie rod ends replaced. A/C dont work The list goes on. Would NEVER but another one.

trucks,95 Laredo, more trucks, 03 Laredo much nicer than 95. Of course this one is loaded. very comfortable, and fun to drive. feels solid. needs better gas milage on 4.0! Should get at least 20 mpg all around. That is my only complaint.

  • Only American product I would buy - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

When my PT Loser died I jumped on a great deal for this used 03 Laredo. The best decision I ever made. My son has a 97 with 170K and loves it and with the expected life of this SUV being around 500K I think we both will be driving them for years to come. We took both of them out in the snow the other night and had a great time. I cant wait to get it in the mud this Spring.

  • Best of the SUVs - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is my 3rd Jeep owned in 12 years and without a doubt the best. We have 6500 miles on it and have taken the vehicle over the WV, VA and NC mountains on 3 trips without one problem. Around town our SUV responds to stop and go traffic nicely. Our Grand Cherokee Overland held the road in all types of weather. The engine and transmission were flawless. The seats were very comfortable for long distance driving. The cockpit is well laid out too.

  • Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I absolutely love my Jeep. I got a dark blue Grand Cherokee Laredo and it is very nice inside and out. I was very skeptical about Jeep from what others have said, but mine is very reliable, pretty good on gas, and a comfortable, but fun ride. The stereo is nice sounding, and the seats are a very nice, comfortable cloth. I really love mine and looking forward to trying out the 4x4 in the future. I was honestly surprised by how well mine is with gas. I drive a fair amount and my gas is barely gone. I definitely recommend the car overall.

  • "Cheap" Grand Cherokee - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Well, this car was the worst one we ever bought. The brake rotors warped within 8 months of driving it out of the lot, the air conditioning is hot in the summer, but the heating is marginally good in winter. The fan relay went at 38k miles. The fog light on-indicator burned out at 39k miles and one of the power outlets doesnt work. At 33k miles the seatbelt failed to retract. The car floats all over the road. The tilting steering wheel jumps out of its last position when you go over a bump. Do not, whatever you do, by a used Jeep Grand Cherokee. I wouldnt say its trail rated---I would say its "fail" rated.

  • Second Grand Cherokee - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is our second Grand cherokee, the first was the 4.0 ltr. and I must say the limited 4.7 V8 is worlds apart. It is getting better fuel economy and works less hard moving this heavy vehicle. We test drove many other SUVs but came back for another one. New competitors vehicles may look sporty or trendy but living with and sitting inside, this is the vehicle for us.

  • The worst vehicle ever made - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

It started w/the Rotors from the day I drove it off the lot.Ive blocked it out of mind just how money I spent & the RUN AROUND from the dealership & the corporate. I fixed the rotors (later recalled). When I called corporate they told me it was too late, Id fixed them. What was I supposed to do, be killed or kill someone else b/c of defective brakes and rotors. Next, the windows;first passenger side - 400.00+ to fix, then the drivers side & one in the back. The blinkers work sometimes & others they dont. The locks only work with the Key remote. Im too poor to anything about it. Ive started (too late) to take tag numbers of other similar jeeps. I have sweat dreams of a Class Action.

  • Excellant SUV - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd. is the best SUV I have ever owned. Everything has functioned perfectly in everyway and for a V8 4X4, 21-23mpg on highway is great. Also think the ride is just about perfect, not too smooth and not too firm.
